Present Use: Presently in use as a restaurant.
Size:
Large. This would have been a large size Sambo's (Double window
booths. Row of Double Booths, Row of Single Booths, Counter with
Stools.
Building Condition: (1-10) "10" - 10 would be considered as good
as if a new Sambo's.
OUTSIDE
Googie: This is not a Googie building. Contemporary Design
Original Design: Original constructed design still intact. Fire place
looks to be added to north side of building in dining area.
Rock Entry Area: Original basic brick still present. No signs but sign
mountings still visible.
Windows: Full original window view present but not used.
Palm Trees: No Palms. Cold Weather area.
Sign:
Original post present. Not original sign sheild.
INSIDE
Counter: Counter and stools removed.
Booths: All booths removed and replaced for on the spot cooking
use.
Kitchen: "Pass over shelf" and opening to kitchen
removed and covered.
COMMENTS
This building is still complete and original on the outside.
Would need major work to bring back to Sambo's design on the
inside.
ADDITIONAL
COMMENTS
The present restaurant is one that cooks your food in front of
you where you eat. Seating is placed around the grills. Opertated
by some very nice folks and the cooking areas are set up so that
you can watch the other tables having their food cooked as well.
Due to my early morning visit I will need to returned to try
their food. You can bet we well be back for this.
